Mnemosyne, the Titaness of memory, is known for giving birth to the Muses. But in one obscure strand of the tradition, she had another child that she hid. According to the story, this child was born without a name. Not because Mnemosyne never named it, but because the child erased whatever name it was given. Anyone who spoke to it, wrote about it, or even thought of it clearly would lose the memory moments later. The child could be seen, but not remembered. It could speak, but its words dissolved as soon as they were heard. It could touch others, but the moment it let go, the person forgot the contact ever happened. Mnemosyne tried to raise the child, but even she, the embodiment of memory, found her thoughts slipping. Eventually she hid the child in a remote valley because the world was destabilized by its existence. And then, probably, most likely, she definitely forgot where.#notatruestory#butagoodstoryThis is the first part of an experiment. Original artwork, plastic, hand painted. Size 15 x 10cm.
