The chullo is a traditional Andean hat, originating from the highlands of the Andean region. It is characterized by being woven from alpaca, sheep, or llama wool, which makes it very warm, and by having long ear flaps that protect from the wind and the intense cold of the mountains. It often also has braids or decorative pompoms and is used to protect the head, ears, and partly the face from the extreme cold of the Andes. Handmade by Peruvian artisans in Cusco.
