La patatiera Thomas è un recipiente in ceramica refrattaria (coccio) tedesco usato per cuocere patate e castagne in modo simile a come venivano cotte "sotto la brace", con buccia abbrustolita e interno tenero, senza aggiungere acqua né grassi. Si usa direttamente sulla fiamma, preferibilmente con uno spargifiamma o una retina, mantenendo la buccia delle patate lavata e asciutta. La particolare porosità del materiale conferisce un sapore leggermente affumicato, simile a quello della cottura al coppo. nuova nella confezione originale, mai utilizzata.
